StumbleUpon – Because Where Else Can You Kill Bunnies and Tranquilize Sheep?
So, I signed up for StumbleUpon and downloaded the tool bar. It turns out it’s incredibly useful for finding totally random, obscure sites about almost nothing. Cheers to that! Here’s a list of 7 that I’ve discovered in the past 15 minutes or so.
- Make a kaleidoscope.
- Check what time it is.
- See how fast you are at reacting, by tranquilizing dashing sheep. I happen to be an ambling armadillo.
- A list of unusual deaths.
- A game where you’re a winter season bunny who jumps on bells then plummets to his death. I scored 780, by the way.
- A Christmas-style story called It’s A Wonderful Internet. Our lives would obviously end without the internet.
- Pictures of sidewalk chalk art. Mine was better, circa 1991. I used to draw and entire amusement park and then power trip by not letting children “ride” certain rides (by standing on them) until I measured their height. Go figure that a grew up to be about 5 foot 1. Karma goes after your children, too!
I’d say that was 15 minutes well spent, wouldn’t you? Anyways, as irrelevant as all of this is – and let’s face it, you can’t deny the joy in a little bit of internet irrelevance once in awhile – I haven’t really tested the site out yet.
Is anyone else a member of StumbleUpon? What do you think of it? How do you find it useful?

I too am a stumbler now. At first I just saw it as a way to randomly find resources and entertainment. However, as you thumb up and actually give reviews, eventually your profile gains trust. Which is useful when you thumb up an article and get x number of visitors. Now because stumble traffic is just bouncing from site to site, you may not get much bang for that traffic buck but it’s still good for your ego. Also your site reviews post to your profile, and also to a keyword page.

Hmmm, I usually thumb up, but I have yet to give a review. I haven’t figured it out yet. I’m working on navigating the site, and hopefully I’ll be a pro soon. Thanks for your comment Jeremy!

Next to the thumb, there’s a little comment bubble. Once ya thumb up it turns orange, you click that, then edit your “review” you can then add commentary, and add relevant tags as well.
